Pretty Feet

Once you've decided on your gown, next you get to decide on your shoes. This is not something you want to leave until the last minute! There are many designers that have to be special ordered, so make sure to leave yourself enough time. Especially if we are ordering your shoes from Europe!

One of the biggest accessory trends we are seeing for 2010 are Luxe bridal shoes, decorated with freshwater pearls, silk flowers, and crystals. These are not your "ordinary" bridal shoes. They are the Mercedes-Benz of bridal shoes :) Many can be dyed after the wedding, so you can wear them with other outfits.

I think we can all agree that no one wants ouchie feet on their wedding day. A way to avoid that is to make sure your beautiful shoes are well made. This is not a place to pinch pennies. Cheap shoes are just that......cheap shoes. Look for designs that feature leather inside, and silk outside. They will mold and stretch to fit your foot, unlike their inferior counterparts.

Trying on before you purchase is crucial. Your wedding day comfort depends on you being able to enjoy your own party! This is why I never advocate buying shoes online. First of all, especially when you are dealing with designer shoes, there are a TON of inferior replicas out there. Trust me, they are not made with the same care the real designer shoes are. Secondly, most bridal/special occassion shoes cannot be returned. So....let's say you buy that gorgeous pair of $300 shoes online.....and they don't fit. Yikes!

At The Silver Lining, we carry Luxe and couture shoes in silk satin, silk taffeta, leather, with special details that are drool-worthy to say the least. Feel free to stop in any time to take a peek :)

The Nitty Gritty...

We all hate to talk about it....a taboo subject....

Bacne.

Bacne can happen to anyone. Backless, strapless, even spaghetti strap gowns show some back....and any imperfection anyone might have. Yeah, it sucks, but there is a way to have the back view of your dreams before your wedding.

Once you choose your gown, it's time to get your skin into shape! You all know that I would never recommend anyone I would not personally chose for my own wedding. If I had to stake my wedding on the beauty of my skin, I would trust it to Amanda Drak, owner of Lola Spa. This lady is the guru of skin care. Her spa is nothing short of delightful--- one on one, relaxing, and private. You are not a "number" at Lola's. You're her friend.

Fresh colors for 2010

It looks like Spring/Summer 2010 is gonna be bright! The color palletes for next year are amazing. Fresh colors, pops of the unexpected, and interesting textures are where it's at for 2010 weddings.

One of my personal favs is the lime/navy combo, with touches of peacock feathers throughout. Navy is a nice neutral, and the lime green gives it a fresh, unexpected twist.

Shades of purple are also dominating the runways, thanks in part to Khloe Kardashian's wedding to Lamar Odom. Of course, they chose purple (he's a Laker)...and the pallete was gorgeous! She used various shades of purple, from violet to periwinkle. Check out the pics....the short bubble-skirt bridesmaid dress is by Enzoani. We have it in pink in the store, but you can order it in any color that you like.

I've posted a few others for your viewing pleasure....yellow and teal....pink and orange...think *bright* for 2010, and you're wedding will rock!
